The Sheridan Blackhawks and the Herron Achaeans will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Sheridan had to settle for a 53-50 defeat against the Warriors. Sheridan has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Sheridan saw an underclassman step up: Trey Page scored 23 points along with two steals. Page hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Trent Decrane was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Sheridan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Herron's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 82-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwestern. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sheridan's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6. As for Herron, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Sheridan against the Achaeans in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 73-36 win. With Sheridan ahead 35-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
