Oneida is 2-8 against the Thunder since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Oneida Express' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Central Valley Academy Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Oneida, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 81-67 loss to the Golden Knights. Oneida has not had much luck with the Golden Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Central Valley Academy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 71-29 win over Vernon-Verona-Sherrill. Central Valley Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Deacon Judd, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Judd is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Luke, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Oneida's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Central Valley Academy, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
Oneida took a serious blow against the Thunder in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 75-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Judd, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Now that Oneida knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
