Basketball Recap: Joshua Ballard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Glendale over San Bernardino

Glendale saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 85-76 to the San Bernardino Cardinals. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Nitros came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Cardinals are ranked 498th).

Several Nitros players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joshua Ballard, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. Ballard is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Manalo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Glendale has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for San Bernardino, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Glendale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-49 victory against Rowland on the 30th. As for San Bernardino, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-55 defeat against Hoover on the 30th.
