The Jones Trojans's 29-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Montgomery by a score of 49-47. While losing is never fun, Jones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 783rd, while Montgomery is ranked 165th).
Despite the loss, Jones had strong showings from Abby Del Bosque, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds, and Kaydence Menchaca, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds. The contest was Menchaca's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Davis, who scored 6 points.
Jones' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Montgomery, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Midland the next time they take the court. Jones will head out to face Midland at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, while Montgomery will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
