Basketball Recap: Seguin Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Seguin waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They wrapped up 2024 with a 51-32 win over the Bellville Brahmas. The Matadors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Brahmas, too.

Seguin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Britlyn Walls, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 15 points and three steals. Walls has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Franklin, who posted seven points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Seguin was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Seguin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-13. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Bellville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Seguin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 79-19 victory against Rice Consolidated on the 26th. As for Bellville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-18 win against Luling on the 27th.
