The Maranatha Minutemen had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They snuck past Village Christian with a 65-60 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Maranatha got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zain Mahmood out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mahmood has scored at least 25% of Maranatha's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Smith, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Maranatha has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Village Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Maranatha will head out on the road to face off against Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Village Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ventura at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th.
