Baseball Recap: Lockport's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Lockport dropped their record down to 7-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They lost 17-0 to the Niagara Falls Wolverines. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

As for Niagara Falls, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

For Niagara Falls' part, Matthew Brydges and Trevor Meidenbauer were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Brydges pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Meidenbauer didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Brydges has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Brydges went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Meidenbauer went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three runs gave Brydges a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Andrew Brydges looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Anthony Littere was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dominic Puleo, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
