Conant had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 9-6 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Elk Grove Grenadiers 3-1. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Grenadiers, too.

Dani Gemmell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jenny Ryan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Wolf, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Elk Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 24, 2024.

On Elk Grove's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Brianna Magner gave up three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kaitlin Wirtz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, Conant will be playing at home against Wheeling at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in the Cougars' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Wildcats have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Elk Grove, they will venture away from home to square off against Schaumburg at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grenadiers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saxons have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
