Covington is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Arcanum is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Covington Buccs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Arcanum Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Covington didn't have too much trouble with Milton-Union on the road as they won 46-30.
Meanwhile, Arcanum strolled past Dixie with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 44-30. Given Arcanum's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Dixie is ranked 585th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Covington's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Arcanum, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Covington came up short against Arcanum in their previous matchup back in December of 2020, falling 52-43. Can Covington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
