The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Moreau Catholic Mariners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop O'Dowd is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Bishop O'Dowd beat Tennyson 17-6.
The critical scores for Bishop O'Dowd came from Colton Downing and Owen Merritt.
Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 49-13 win over Castro Valley. Given Moreau Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Castro Valley is ranked 600th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Moreau Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Bryant out in front who rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. Peyton Collins was another key contributor, rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 3-3.
Everything came up roses for Bishop O'Dowd against Moreau Catholic in their previous matchup back in October of 2021 as the squad secured a 49-13 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Moreau Catholic's Malachi Salazar-alexander, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Bishop O'Dowd to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
