The Jefferson Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. The game between Jefferson and Fort Lupton wasn't particularly close, with Jefferson falling 72-56. Even though they lost, Jefferson's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Jefferson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Luis Fajardo , who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Garcia , who scored 17 points along with six assists and four steals.
Jefferson's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-10. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Fort Lupton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will take on DSST: Montview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in DSST: Montview's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Fort Lupton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Englewood at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Englewood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
