The North Central Panthers waltzed into Friday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Terre Haute North Vigo with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. Given North Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Terre Haute North Vigo is ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Papi Rivera, who scored 17 points along with 4 steals. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nijah Jewell, who scored 13 points.
North Central's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Central will challenge Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cathedral has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 329 points over their last four matchups. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they will head out on the road to face off against West Vigo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
