On Saturday, the Douglas Tigers faced the Elko Indians in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Douglas took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 53-26 win over Elko. Considering Douglas has won three games by more than 20 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Douglas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashlyn Greenfield, who scored seven points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleeah Weaver, who scored 13 points.
Elko struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Elko, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Douglas will head out on the road to face off against Reno at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Reno focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Tuesday. Elko will be home for the holidays to greet Wooster at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
