Basketball Recap: Johnson Skates Past Madison with Ease

Johnson won the last time they faced Madison and things went their way on Friday too. The Johnson Jaguars blew past the Madison Mavericks 63-12. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Mitchell, who posted eight points along with seven boards and five assists. That's the most assists Mitchell has posted since back in November of 2024. Janae Johnson was another key player, putting up four points and six steals.

Johnson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Johnson's record is now 23-11. As for Madison, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-27.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson will venture away from home to challenge LEE at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. LEE is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season. Madison has already played their next contest (against Brandeis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
