The Parke Heritage Wolves will face off against the Southmont Mounties at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Parke Heritage and Covington had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Wolves walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Trojans on Friday. The game was the first time the Wolves have beaten the Trojans on their field since April 15, 2023.

Aerianna Desmith made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taya Sturmer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Addison Coffman was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Parke Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covington only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, Southmont entered their tilt with Clinton Prairie on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Gophers.
Kenzie Douglas and Mallory Mason did most of the damage at the plate: Douglas went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Mason went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayden Dagley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Parke Heritage's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Southmont, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Parke Heritage has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Southmont struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Parke Heritage's way against Southmont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Parke Heritage made off with a 19-6 win. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Mounties have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
