The Bunn Wildcats will take on the Franklinton Red Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Franklinton will be up against a hot Bunn team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Bunn blew past Northern Nash 21-1 on Thursday. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
MaKayla McDonald looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Alford, who fired off three home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Harrah, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Bunn lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Nash didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Franklinton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Nash Central get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Thursday. The match marked the Red Rams' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Madison Lada made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Madison Peebles was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Bailey Jo Helton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Franklinton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bunn, their record now sits at 4-0.
Bunn's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Bunn has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Franklinton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bunn continue to outrun the ball?
Bunn skirted past Franklinton 10-8 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Bunn repeat their success, or does Franklinton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
