Cosumnes Oaks (Elk Grove, Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat
River City (West Sacramento, Calif.), 31-9, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Michael Coleman in the first quarter, the Wolfpack led 24-6 at the half.
Cosumnes Oaks expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. CO scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Kaelin Willhite.
Elijah Thomas made a difference for the Raiders. The sophomore quarterback ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to five on the year.
The Elk Grove school's most effective player was
Ryan Lewis. The senior ran for one touchdown and kicked one field goal. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
River City's lone touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Thomas in the first quarter.
The Wolfpack came into the game allowing 15.1 points per game. The nine points that RC ended with were well below its average of 19.9 coming into the game.
Cosumnes Oaks also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 25-7.
The loss comes after River City defeated Galt 48-6 last week. The loss snapped the West Sacramento school's 2-game winning streak.
