The Mendon Hornets will be playing at home against the Tekonsha Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Mendon's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Tekonsha has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Mendon was able to grind out a solid win over St. Philip Catholic Central, taking the game 57-50.
Mendon's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Owen Gorham, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, and Quincy Blair, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Gorham hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Ryder Gorham was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Tekonsha was beaten by Hillsdale Academy 67-25 on Friday. Tekonsha has struggled against Hillsdale Academy recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Mendon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Tekonsha, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
Mendon beat Tekonsha 59-46 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tekonsha's Jake Boring, who shot 6-for-12 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Mendon to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
