Germantown Friends will square off against the Flint Hill Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Germantown Friends put up the most points they have all season on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Sissonville as Germantown Friends made off with an 11-1 victory.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Flint Hill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Woodberry Forest with a sharp 19-3 win on Friday. That looming 19-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.
Vincenzo Fiorino made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Flint Hill got a massive performance out of Aidan Ryan, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Ryan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was PJ Lyons, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Flint Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodberry Forest only posted an OBP of .348.
Flint Hill's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Germantown Friends, their record is now 2-3.
Germantown Friends couldn't quite get it done against Flint Hill when the teams last played back in March of 2015 as they fell 12-8. Can Germantown Friends avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
