5A East recap October 8, 2013
Wynne added to the longest winning streak in 5A East this week by beating Greene County Tech, 46-26. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Yellowjackets.
Beebe made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,717 from 6,954. The improvement was the result of a 37-20 victory over Forrest City last week.
The Golden Eagles' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyson Bayird threw for 118 and 2 touchdowns and Cole Sheffer had 113 yards receiving. On the ground London Word chipped in 45 yards. Jake Mitchell helped Greene County Tech's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 71 yards.
Dylan Hartwig provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Greene County Tech lost to Wynne. He completed 16 passes for 196 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 25 yards. Hartwig's key target this week was Sheffer, who caught 4 passes for 113 yards.
Tucker Harris was a key player and the best on defense this week as Jeff Conaway's team fell to the Yellowjackets. The 6-foot-0 defensive back racked up 1 sack.
Sheffer was the best receiver in the league this week as the Golden Eagles fell to Wynne. Mitchell helped Greene County Tech's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 71 yards.
Greene County Tech's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Golden Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hartwig has thrown for 635 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Sheffer has 12 catches for 285 yards.
As it stands, the Yellowjackets are in first, while the Badgers are in third.
Wynne led the league in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on Greene County Tech.
