The Taylor County Bulldogs's three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lafayette and snuck past 53-50. The win was just what Taylor County needed coming off of a 69-31 loss in their prior match.
Leading Taylor County to victory were Louis Gaddy Jr. and Trayce Abercrombie. Gaddy Jr. dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Abercrombie scored 14 points along with three steals. The match was Gaddy Jr.'s fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jock Price was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Lafayette's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amarie Fleming, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Fleming. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Mares, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Taylor County's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Lafayette, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Munroe at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. Munroe will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Lafayette, they will head out on the road to face off against Trenton at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trenton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 354th, while Lafayette is ranked 175th).
