After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stoneman Douglas, Doral Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Marcelo Rodriguez looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Ruvalcaba, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Leandro Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Doral Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Immaculata-La Salle only posted a batting average of .042.

Doral Academy pushed their record up to 19-5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Immaculata-La Salle, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-5.

Doral Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they will face off against Booker T. Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Royal Lions are facing the Tornadoes at the right time seeing as the Tornadoes are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
