Beaver Local hasn't had much luck against Crestview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Beavers will face off against the Rebels at 5:00 p.m. Beaver Local's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Crestview's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Wednesday, Beaver Local was able to grind out a solid win over Martins Ferry, taking the game 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Beavers.

Addie Thurik made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brylee Curtis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brenna Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crestview). They were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over David Anderson on Wednesday. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Like Beaver Local, Crestview also got a great game from a two-way player: Makayla Mckee. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Mckee was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alivia Shetler, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Kerrigan Miller also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Crestview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They got six more hits than David Anderson's also-impressive total of 11.
Beaver Local's record is now 15-3. As for Crestview, their record now sits at 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beaver Local has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crestview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Beaver Local suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Crestview in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
