The Manvel Mavericks will venture away from home to face off against the Dawson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Manvel's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They blew past Alvin, posting a 55-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Mavericks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Cam Renfro produced another solid performance rushing for 94 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 146 yards and two TDs. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Manvel is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eric Mosley III, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.
Manvel's run defense was locked in: Alvin could only muster 0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Brayson Robinson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Manvel didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Manvel, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of (Greedy) Karnell James Jr, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Dawson took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Alvin. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won seven in a row.
Dawson's win came from a few key players Manvel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke Brown, who threw for 200 yards and one touchdown on only 11 passes, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Those 200 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Corey Brown did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 170 receiving yards.
Manvel's record now sits at 5-3. As for Dawson, their record is now 7-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Manvel has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 237.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Dawson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 163.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Manvel against Dawson in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 48-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
