The Noxubee County Tigers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Saltillo Tigers at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday. Saltillo took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Noxubee County, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Noxubee County took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 58-18 win over St. Helena College and Career Academy. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Noxubee County has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Saltillo unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Wheeler 49-45. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Saltillo has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Crayden Shannon, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Adams, who scored 11 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Noxubee County and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Saltillo, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 12-5.
Noxubee County came up short against Saltillo in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 56-44. Can Noxubee County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
