Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Richland

Richland had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Ryan Raiders with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Stacy Jennings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Aguilar, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. Mia Berain was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Richland's record is now 11-3-2. As for Ryan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Richland will head out on the road to square off against Birdville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Birdville is on a five-game streak of home wins, Richland a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. As for Ryan, they will welcome Grapevine at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grapevine is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
