Given Cleveland's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Rhea County is ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Cleveland to victory were Tamiah Tanner and Lauren Hurst. Tanner scored eight points along with five steals, while Hurst almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Hurst is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Callie Brewer, who scored nine points.
Cleveland has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Rhea County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season.
