The First Academy Royals were the 20-7 winner over the Foundation Academy Lions when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The First Academy fell 49-41 to Foundation Academy on Friday. The First Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The First Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ryon Smith, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Malachi Jones also helped out as he racked up 170 rushing yards.
James Jt bronaugh was his usual excellent self, rushing for 394 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.2 yards per carry. Jt bronaugh really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Michael Dove was another major influence, as he rushed for 25 yards and ran in a TD.
Foundation Academy's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB 3.5 times. Leading the way was Drew Flournoy and his two sacks.
The First Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Foundation Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
The First Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Windermere Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windermere Prep is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Foundation Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against West Oaks Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Oaks Academy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
