Baseball Game Preview: Evergreen Cougars vs. Wheat Ridge Farmers

Evergreen has gone 8-2 against Wheat Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will welcome the Farmers at 4:00 p.m. Evergreen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Evergreen needed a bit of extra time to put away D'Evelyn. They had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 6-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 27, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Brody March made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

March wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brecken Worthington, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Wheat Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Golden, falling 14-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Farmers were not able to get on the board.

Evergreen pushed their record up to 14-5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Wheat Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Evergreen took their win against Wheat Ridge when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 20-3 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Farmers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
