The Venus Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 49-23 walloping at the hands of Kaufman. While losing is never fun, Venus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1048th, while Kaufman is ranked 372nd).
Kaufman found their leader in underclassman Kaylee Wrenn, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wrenn has scored at least 25% of Kaufman's points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Prox, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Venus' defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Kaufman, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-8.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Grapevine the next time they take the court. Venus will head out to face Grapevine at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, while Kaufman will head out to face them at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
