After a string of three wins, Mercer County's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 66-53 to Anderson County. While losing is never fun, Mercer County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Bearcats are ranked 16th).
The losing side was boosted by Ak Drakeford, who scored 32 points along with six assists and three steals. That was a full 60.4% of Mercer County's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Izzie Carlton, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, West Jessamine can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Somerset with a sharp 73-47 win. The victory was familiar territory for West Jessamine who now have eight in a row.
Mercer County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for West Jessamine, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
