The Discovery Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 30-8 walloping at the hands of Lake Placid. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Discovery has scored all season.
Lake Placid got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Antranique Felton out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Felton is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Taraje Walker was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six steals.
Discovery has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Lake Placid, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.
Discovery will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in McKeel Academy's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Spartans have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Lake Placid, they and the Bulldogs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully DeSoto County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday.
