The Sutton Sammies/Suzies will head out on the road to face off against the Douglas Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sutton will be strutting in after a victory while Douglas will be coming in after a defeat.
Sutton not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since October 7, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They blew past Blackstone-Millville 3-0. The Sammies/Suzies haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Sutton was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-15, 25-15.
Meanwhile, Douglas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Tri-County RVT.
Douglas took Tri-County RVT into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 15-10.
Sutton will need to focus on slowing down Callie Wall, one of several Douglas players who made an impact when they last played. She had six kills and four aces. Taylor Smith was another key player, getting six kills, three digs, and two aces.
Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Sutton, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Sutton came out on top in a nail-biter against Douglas when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Tigers' Zoe Greenough, who had 13 digs, five kills, and five aces. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Sammies/Suzies still be able to contain Greenough? There's only one way to find out.
