The St. Mary's Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 52-27 loss to Ravenscroft might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Mary's in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now lost six in a row.
St. Mary's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mary Marshall Rankin, who scored 11 points, and Abby Sottini who scored ten points.
Ravenscroft's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Cronin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. Cronin hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Zoe Adams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
St. Mary's dropped their record down to 7-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Ravenscroft, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's and the Cavaliers will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Ravenscroft, they will be playing at home against the Knights at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. North Raleigh Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
