Softball Recap: Anaheim Extends Winning Streak to Five

Anaheim waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Tustin Tillers 13-2. Considering the Colonists have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Anaheim got a great performance from Abby Barajas as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Barajas has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chloe Tabita was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenelle Monzon, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Anaheim kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in five consecutive matches.

Anaheim's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Tustin, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anaheim will face off against Santiago at 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Santiago will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Anaheim surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tustin, they will challenge Estancia at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Tustin's pitchers better be ready for this one: Estancia has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
