Fannett Metal lost against the McConnellsburg Spartans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Fannett Metal had to suffer through a rough 71-44 loss at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, Fannett Metal can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Spartans are ranked 271st).
McConnellsburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaffer Earley, who scored 17 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Earley scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Gress, who scored 15 points.
Fannett Metal's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for McConnellsburg, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Fannett Metal will head out on the road to challenge the Rockets at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for McConnellsburg, they will be playing at home against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Everett has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
