Our Lady of the Lake Catholic has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the New Buffalo Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Our Lady of the Lake Catholic has not done well against River Valley recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic put the hurt on River Valley with a sharp 56-36 victory.
Meanwhile, New Buffalo beat Marcellus 56-47 on Thursday. The victory was just what New Buffalo needed coming off of a 73-48 loss in their prior game.
New Buffalo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elliott Bourne led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds. Bourne is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Haskins, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic's victory bumped their season record to 4-0 while River Valley's loss dropped theirs to 0-3.
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against New Buffalo in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 45-42. Does Our Lady of the Lake Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Buffalo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
