The Lovett Lions entered their tilt with the Hampton Hornets with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lovett enjoyed a cozy 62-46 victory over Hampton on Monday. Given Lovett's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Hampton is ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lovett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Casani Bartlett, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bartlett has scored all season. Kingston Whitty was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists.
Lovett is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Hampton, they dropped their record down to 6-19 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Lovett will face off against McDonough at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. McDonough knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Lovett likes a good challenge. Hampton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
