Lincoln is 0-3 against Marquez since March of 2020 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tigers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Gladiators at 1:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Lincoln is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Bell on Monday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Melody Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Martinez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Val Vences, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Jaylene Celis was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bell only posted a batting average of .174.
Meanwhile, Marquez got themselves on the board against Firebaugh on Monday, but Firebaugh never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 13-0 victory. Considering the Gladiators have won five games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Lincoln, Marquez also got a great game from a two-way player: Darla Sanchez. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Sanchez has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Delilah Sanchez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rosalia Reyes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Marquez and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Lincoln, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Marquez struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lincoln suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Marquez when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
