Steeleville hasn't had much luck against Marissa/Coulterville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Meteors at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Saturday, Steeleville came up short against Nashville and fell 7-4. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Karsen Wedemeyer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Marissa/Coulterville unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Greenville by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Meteors couldn't push the score so high this time.
Molly Kane was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Marissa/Coulterville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katlyn Rednour, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.
Marissa/Coulterville's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Steeleville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Steeleville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Marissa/Coulterville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Steeleville might still be hurting after the 16-5 loss they got from Marissa/Coulterville when the teams last played on Wednesday. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
