The Booker T. Washington Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Hamilton Wildcats on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 85-77 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (66), Booker T. Washington still had to take the loss.
Hamilton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Timothy Matthews led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Matthews is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devan McGee, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds.
Booker T. Washington has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Hamilton, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Booker T. Washington will challenge Manassas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Manassas is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Hamilton on the road again on Friday and play against Memphis Business Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Memphis Business Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Hamilton likes a good challenge.
