Beaufort Academy is 1-9 against Hilton Head Prep since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Beaufort Academy Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Beaufort Academy made easy work of Cross Schools and carried off a 65-39 win. The victory was just what Beaufort Academy needed coming off of a 51-31 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Hilton Head Prep beat Northwood Academy 45-36 on Friday. Given Hilton Head Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Northwood Academy is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hilton Head Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Campbell, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Britschge, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Riverpointe Christian Academy's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Beaufort Academy's defeat dropped theirs to 0-2.
Things could have been worse for Beaufort Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-56 loss to Hilton Head Prep when the teams last played back in February. Can Beaufort Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
