Basketball Game Preview: Carver Montgomery Wolverines vs. Wilcox Central Jaguars

The Carver Montgomery Wolverines will take on the Wilcox Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Carver Montgomery is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Paul W. Bryant just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. They took a 72-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stampede.

Despite their defeat, Carver Montgomery saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ladarian Hooper, who posted 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Those 17 points gave Hooper a new career-high. Treyvon Berry was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wilcox Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Jackson by a score of 61-52 on Friday.

Wilcox Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Carver Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
