The Jay Royals will square off against the Northview Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jay 4, Northview 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Jay is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Chipley by a score of 9-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Layna Lowry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kiley Samford and Miley McGee did most of the damage at the plate: Samford went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while McGee went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave McGee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carleigh Baker, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Northview entered their tilt with Holmes County on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chiefs have posted since April 4th.
The result came thanks to Mikayla McAnally's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.
Northview's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Jay, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jay hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jay might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Northview in their previous matchup last Thursday. Will the Royals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
