The North Decatur Chargers will head out on the road to take on the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. North Decatur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
It was a classic North v. South duel when North Decatur faced off against South Decatur on Saturday. The Chargers walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Cougars.

The team relied heavily on Matthew Fields, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Downey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Jac-Cen-Del let New Washington stack four runs on them in the fifth inning on Friday but luckily Jac-Cen-Del prevailed anyway. The Eagles won by a run and slipped past the Mustangs 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won eight in a row.
Blake Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Jac-Cen-Del's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Neil Sullivan, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Lance Snyder also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
North Decatur pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jac-Cen-Del, their record now sits at 12-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Decatur has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jac-Cen-Del struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Decatur suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Jac-Cen-Del when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
