The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Ponca Indians at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Elk Point-Jefferson is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Indians in their respective states (the Huskies are ranked 15th in South Dakota, while the Indians are ranked 169th in Nebraska).
Elk Point-Jefferson put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 44-23 margin over Groton.
Meanwhile, Ponca came into Tuesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 42-33 victory over Bloomfield on Tuesday.
Elk Point-Jefferson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Ponca, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Elk Point-Jefferson came up short against the Indians in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 44-38. Can Elk Point-Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
