The Highlands Owls will head out on the road to square off against the Edison Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highlands is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Highlands suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Sam Houston, falling 70-32. While losing is never fun, Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1048th, while Sam Houston is ranked 438th).
Meanwhile, Edison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 69-37 loss at the hands of Alamo Heights. Edison has not had much luck with Alamo Heights recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Highlands has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-25 record this season. As for Edison, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 10-19.
Highlands didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Edison in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 43-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highlands since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
