The Creekside Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Fletcher Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Creekside has five straight victories, Fletcher has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Ponte Vedra scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Creekside still came out on top. Creekside walked away with a 66-59 victory over Ponte Vedra.
Creekside relied on the efforts of Derek Rivers, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Ethan Tucker, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Rivers hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Garren Blaylock, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Fletcher pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-59 to Mandarin.
Creekside's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Fletcher, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Creekside beat Fletcher 68-58 when the teams last played back in January of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Creekside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
