Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Charlotte walked away with it. They came out on top against the Myers Park Mustangs by a score of 34-21 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Leading West Charlotte to victory were Sincere Gray and Jamouri Nichols. Gray rushed for 92 yards and one score on only eight carries, while Nichols rushed for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Myers Park's loss came despite strong showings from Josh Falzarano Jr and Chaz Portis. Falzarano Jr rushed for 114 yards and one TD, while Portis picked up 56 receiving yards and one score. Falzarano Jr's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 113 rushing yards.
West Charlotte's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Myers Park, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
West Charlotte wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 24-0 defeat against Hough on the 28th. Myers Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
