Berkeley Prep extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-11. They came up short against the Parrish Community Bulls, falling 15-5. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulls apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
Reese Kurland was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Rivera, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
As for Parrish Community, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-5-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Parrish Community's side, Emma Sanderson and Alysa Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Sanderson tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Jones tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Sanderson went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Jones went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Sanderson a new career-high.
In other batting news, Parrish Community let Madelina Chapman and Emmaline Van Beck run wild. Chapman went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Van Beck got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Van Beck has posted since back in April of 2025. Mylee Gilbert was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berkeley Prep will face off against Land O' Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Parrish Community, they will challenge Montverde Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Bulls' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
